Day 62

Last day on the cruise. Boohoo 😢

I met lots of nice people on this trip. That’s not unusual since I like to talk. Every once in a while I meet people that I want to meet again. Betty from my first cruise will be a friend forever. The Smith brothers and their wives from my last cruise are a group I wish I could meet for coffee just to hear their stories and words of encouragement. On this trip I met Geri and Carroll. They could easily be a couple that I wish lived next door.

Cruising lends itself to meeting new people. It’s hard to continue the friendships but it’s really worth it in the end because you can truly broaden your life experiences by meeting people from all over. If you never wanted to meet anyone new, I guess you could really do it while on a cruise but it might be hard. You would just have to stay within your own little bubble. You would need to eat alone far away from anyone else. You shouldn’t sit in a bar with anyone near you. You shouldn’t be in common areas because someone might actually want to talk to you. There are plenty places on a cruise ship to be solitary, but it doesn’t sound very inviting. I think I found the best of both activities on a cruise. In the spa for the sauna or the heated lounge chairs, I can really be all by myself. The pool is a crowded place, so no matter where I sit and lay I’m going to talk to someone so that’s more of a  non-solitary activity. On this ship, there was a game room and a library. The library was very quiet and never populated with people. The game room on the other hand had people playing table games a lot. They also had a puzzle area where multiple people were trying to  complete 1500 piece puzzles over the course of the week. If I wanted to sit and think I could sit on my balcony and just watch the water and that was fun. I think I meet so many people because I live outside of my little bubble. I go out of my room, I eat with people and I take excursions and talk to people.

I have to say this past cruise was the best one yet. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve met lovely people or because I’m figuring out the best way to cruise. Either way it was a blast. I saw excellent things and had new experiences. I also had food that I didn’t think I would ever want to eat, and it turned out to be great. I really don’t care for wine but I went to a wine tasting and learned a lot. (I still don’t like it!) Overall, I don’t think it was the Cruise at all. My  attitude makes the difference. If I have a positive attitude then things around me are positive too!
